Its that time of year again and I'm starting to feel down about being single...again.

It starts around this time every year. I go in tesco and see couples choosing between quality street and roses...I go into town and see couples in toys r us discussing whether their DS will prefer spider-man or batman...I walk past houses and see couples putting up their trees together...

I know I have the kids which is more than some get but does anyone else feel lonely this time of year? All those 'perfect families' out there, cooking dinner, playing together and then snuggling up in front of the TV on christmas night...meanwhile I'm usually sat on my own playing on the xbox once the kids are in bed.

Making it worse is the fact that my mum is going away for christmas so from the 19th...I'm totally on my own.

Anyone else on their own on christmas day?

you need to look at scenes with fresh eyes. The cpuple choosing between quality street and Roses are probably hissing at each other 'I don't want to spend £5 on your mother after what she said...' or '£50 on a fucking batman doll, I work all hours and am not paying for that' and putting up the trees 'stupid batsrad tree, why did you insist ona 6 foot tree!'
until by Xmas day they all hate each other
as for cuddling up after the kids have gone to bed.......doesn't happen here! I go to bed with dd2 and DH is relieved cos he can play the new computer games

pinkyporker · 10/12/2008 21:29

LOL at needmorecoffee, I couldn't agree more.

I have Ex Dh over for dinner....think I would rather be playing xbox on my own!

Know how you feel, have just spent 2 hours this afternoon putting sparkly lights in the trees on our drive all by myself. Me and my 9 yr old son wrestled a 6ft tree up the stairs and into place. Its not easy but am determined to make this christmas a good one for them as it is my first as a LP. Will not be on my own but boy do I feel alone in all this. Lights look fab though
