Did I dream that it is going to be the case that you can pay grandparents through tax credits for looking after kids while lp can go to work?

I thought you had to be a registered childminder to recieve money from tax credits. but i might be wrong.

I thought so too but I know I saw something on bbc breakfast...someone was campaigning for it but can't remember if it was actually coming in to effect...wasn't planning to need it at the time....!

Grandparents can be paid, but only if they are a registered childminder AND if they take children other than their own family members.

So basically no. Don't know of any changes to this, would be interested to hear of them, but I think monitoring it would be a nightmare and open to abuse so not sure how they could do this in reality.
