Tonight I called my boyfriend my ex H's name!!

I don't know how it happened, but is something I have feared happening for a while as I obviously have a lot of contact with ex H. I saw ex H when he returned the boys at 6.30pm this evening, and then my boyfriend came round at 8pm. Half way through the night I said "Do you want another drink x?" (ex H's name) Immediately realised what I had said, but it was too late! He said "Did you just call me X?"
I explained my way out of it by telling him that I have a lot of contact with ex H & feared I would one day do this, but it didn't mean I was thinking of him, and he seemed ok, but I feel really bad & a little shocked with myself. I hope he isn't too offended.

DP did call me by his ex-wifes name once. No big deal imo, after someone has been with an ex for years its understandable to make little gaffs like that. DP was more horrified than me lol!
I am forever called DD by DSD's name and vice versa, its just habit, nothing more.

PC you probably wont do it again, its probably cause your day's goings on were still in your brain and it was your ex's name that first registered when you asked you bf what he wanted to drink, don't ponder on it

i constantly call my DS by exH name & sometimes refer to DP by exH name - its just something you're used to saying

Very true,MM! I feel a lot better for knowing it is a fairly common thing to do. I kind of knew it would happen one day! He hasn't mentioned it since, and took me out for a drink last night, so can't be too offended I guess. Hope I don't do it again!
