Sorry just having an i feel sorry for myself moan.
I have been so looking forward to starting college this year doing childcare.I dont think i have spoken about much else.Anyway on thurs I was informed the course will no longer be running as not enough people have enroled..Im so gutted i dont know what to do now.i mean if i apply again next year whos to say the same thing wont happen.I really want to work with children.

Today i had an interview for a beauty therapist position(thats what im trained in).I figured ok if im not going to college then i sure dont want to be on benefits any longer as im struggling as it is.

I got the job but dont know whether to take it or not as they were quite keen on me working a saturday but its difficult childcare wise on a saturday.Mum said she will help out occasionally but i dont think she wants the kids every saturday. The boss said he might be able to change things after a while.

So do i take the job or not?Help.

Can you take it whilst you look for something else ??

Is there nowhere else that does that course ??

You were so excited about doing it too, it is so unfair.

Im going to phone the next closest college to me on monday to see if they have any places. The thing is its so last minute now as a lot of courses start in september.

Why do lone parents not get a break.

I know how you feel with whingy kids though.I would like something just for the break as well im sick of being stuck in.

Sorry Illegally i just noticed your thread.

Your not doing your course now either. Are you going to do the child care one instead or carry on job hunting?

Not sure Bluebell, I can't seem to decide.

Have you tried the hotcourses website ?? If you search for the course and your area on there, it should help you narrow down your search.

Like you, I feel like I must do something now before i go slightly nuts, be it a job or a course.

Thanks for that ill check it out.

I know what you mean.I am worried about surviving on benefits much longer especially with this credit crunch.

Yup me too.

I have to go the jobcentre again on Friday, and might posibly strangle my LP advisor if they ask if I ave had any luck recently.

zippitippitoes · 30/08/2008 16:06

i would take it and see how things pan oput

and it will get you back into working

bluebell1 · 30/08/2008 16:18

Thanks Zippitippitoes I think i will take it as even if it only lasts a while the extra money will come in handy.

Illegally-I asked my lone parent advisor if i could have her job as i would obviously be good at it as im a lone parent myself and she is most certainly not. Most of the advisors i have seen think i am better off getting benefits and havent encouraged me or helped me find work at all.But thats prob just my own experience i hope they arent all like that.

Mine is a nice bloke and tries his best, but he did say at my last appointment that he was pretty stumped as to what else he could suggest.

I could his job too LOL.

I have just been looking at courses in teaching beauty.I have been working in this field for ten years so perhaps it is just something fresh i need.

I would like to do some sort of course at college as i was really looking forward to meeting new people and perhaps making some new friends.

have you thought of setting up on your own

could you do that

maybe do weddings?

no idea of course as i know zilch about beauty

bluebell1 · 30/08/2008 19:12

I would love my own salon but beauty isnt a very relible income as unlike hair, beauty treatments are a luxury not a necessity.

I would love to go mobile but i dont drive.Thats where the extra money will come in handy as i really want to get driving now my boys are getting older.
