Help - I have mice and I'm alone with dd

I no this is not the right place for this but a mouse just ran straight past me, I hate being alone when this kind of thing happens... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I don't know anyone with a cat, I could maybe buy one... will they catch all mice? only prblem is the cat might smell if i get one as a pet

Cats don't smell! Actually they do, but they smell lovely.

becauseimworth it - i know i am a wuss, but i just hate them, it makes me feel like my house is dirty which it is not, and worried about germs for my dd...

Everyone's house is dirty. That is how we build up our immunity to germs. So you are doing a good thing.

Try and look at the mouse differently. It is little, cute and defenceless. Honestly!

no but it is mean and sneaky and tries to reat my food, and I have to do extra work because of it like putting down traps and taking out the rubbish every day and night to make sure there is nothing for it to eat...

Get a glue thingy trap..

I've tried to be humanitarian to my mouse and catch it in a mouse friendly type of trap but it didn't work sadly.

So tonight I out the glue one out and it got caught after 10 min.. Made me feel very sad for poor mouse but I hated cleaning mouse droppings from kitchen tops every morning.

Don't be scared apart from being messy buggers they ae not dangerous..

Urg - I'm with you on this one - I hate the little blighters. First off - see if you can work out where they are coming in from (look for the wee black droppings) then try to temporarily block the area/room - with books/a board/a anything solid - anything that will seal the area for tonight and let you get some kip. An environmental health person told me once they can squeeze through any hole bigger than the thick end of a pencil - so use that as a guide.

Tomorrow look into some traps (if you can bear to see a dead one - I can't) or get some big bloke/big girl to go around and fill in the gaps with poly-filla and wire wool. Or if yu're not a woose like me, do it yourself.

Buy some humane mouse traps tomorrow catch it and let it go in a field(not to close by as it might come back)

I had mice last year, i had fun setting my own traps for them, the best trap i set was using an empty bin laid sideways on the floor, i put crumbs at the bottom, then when the mouse crawled into it i quickly tipped it up straight, the bin was too deep for the mouse to jump out, then i just took the bin outside and let the mouse go in the grass across the road. I also used to ctach them in the traps, take them to work with me in the car, and let them go when i got to the nursery where my ds goes, before carrying on to work!

It wont hurt you, its only a little mouse. God i sound like i was infested, i wasnt, i think the same mouse had a homing beacon and kept coming back

oh no if i had rats i would die... gosh youare all so brave apart from lulumacgloo, who is as scared as me... lol

I would be ale to put the traps down but its picking them up againg that I am scared of...

Anyone got any ideas of what i could use to pick them up with?

Is it a one off that came through an open door/window or do you have to block any gaps.

Get traps down, store food, empty bins and bleach bleach and more bleach!

No i really want them dead, if i release them that means they will be alive when i pick up the rap and they will move... then they will go on to annoy someone else in their house...

You've got to use some big bit of card board - or a fish slice (specially for the purpse - don't use it on your friend egg the next morning). I've never tried to 'empty' a trap - just chuck the the whole thing. Euggghhhh.

there are loads of places they could get in, i live in a house that is converted into flats so could of come from above or below... so it will be impossible to fill all the gaps...

Last christmas I cooked my ham, left it on the side as their was no space in the fridge and a mouse tried to get it..

That was the first time I've had mice and they have been back a few times, but ex p has always been here so did not have to deal with them alone...

The problem with getting a cat on the job is that they like to present you with the half dead mouse. (Been there, screamed and got the tee-shirt). Ended up hating both the cat and the mouse.

Same here mamachat - they come in all directions here too. As soon as anyone starts any building work either side, above or below it's a rodent free for all.

oh no i would hate it if the cat brought the mouse to me or even worse my dd.....

has anyone tried those blue light things you plug in the wall to keep mice away?
