Just wanted to ask how you accessed the counselling the your dd has just started ? Did you go to your gp ?

oh hiya!! Yes i went to the gp, stressed out about her weeing herself for weeks on end. Gp knew the score, i had told her a few times about dd's dad being a knob.

So she wrote to the local counsellingplace for kids. mind you took 4 months to get an appointment, bUT this is south devon. Also at the time i thought i wouldn't be able to cope with even a 6 week wait, but it's al panned out really. You just go on don't you.

I am not 100% sure about going through my gp as she always makes me feel like I am being ott.

Might approach school nurse first maybe.

It is dd2 I want the counselling for. She hasn't coped very well with the seperation at all and is constantly miserable and angry. Plus during a heart to heart the other week she said she wished she could start her life all over again from a baby and then she'd make it a better one .

If I ask her why she is miserable she says she doesn't know, and looks most upset at the fact that she doesn't know what is upsetting her.

I will definatly see either gp or school nurse as this cannot go on.

How often does your dd see her counsellor ??

Well she has only seen her once so far. It was the first meeting and we both attended.

Then the woman siad she'd like to see me on my own which was friday just gone. It was great cos i needed to fill her in on the whole story. i thik she is as concerned about me as she is about dd. This is obviously a good thing, because 'I' need supprt/help/an ear too.

I am going to see her on my own in two weeks. I live in a very remote area, and this service is only available every fortnight, at my little local practice.

Nut, go and see a different gp, noone should hold the power to make you feel ott.

I am not sure at all how this is going to help my dd, but even the fact that thetre IS a third party who is a 'family helper' as i called he, has interested dd.

I was just thinking that who ever dd saw would probably end up thinking I also needed help.

Will try and see different gp, but it is hard to get an appointment at all at my practice, even with your own one.

DD2 was once reffered to see a psych when she was suffering with OCD, but she was crap and there is no way I want her treating dd, as I know that dd would not tell her anything at all.

I know that there is a childrens centre locally who offer counselling, as they did offer it to dd1 when I fist split with xp. Dd2 wasn't old enough at that point .

Might enquire there aswell, but I think i'd need a refferal.
