Just wondering about money... a few questions

Am very grateful for any input.

I split with my now exP 2 months ago having wanted to for a year or so. I have a few questions...

  1. We earn about the same - but as he does bank/ agency work, he can claim to earn less than me. In either situation, am I entitled to anything? He'll probably have dd for a two night stay every 2-3 weeks. I've had to ask him to do so because I have to work some weekends. I guess he might refuse to if I ask for money too?

2)Since I have moved away (for work), do I have to pay all the transport costs for him to see DD? (as it's my "fault" they exist?)

3)Should I see a solicitor now or try and muddle through as we are, doing ok, ish, I think.

See a solicitor a.s.a.p.! But don't tell him you've done it (he might get worried!) Then you will know where you stand. Also, try and get a recommendation from someone and shop around. They should offer you a free half-hour.

csa guidelines are 15% of net income (after tax, ni and pension cont's) for 1 child, reduced by 1/7 for every night per week (average over a year) that NRP has the child overnight. Also reductions if he has other children.

transport - don't know
solicitor - it depends if you can agree amicably I think. Does no harm to know your rights though.
