Child maintenance- paying parent changed jobs

For background, the 'paying parent' doesn't see my dd through his own choice and pays cm through the collect service.
I've just discovered that he changed jobs in May and is likely on a much higher wage now. It's on social media and his picture is displayed on the company website along with his new job title, so there's no mistaking it.
I have submitted the evidence to child maintenance, however, it's been rejected.

I'm not sure why it's been rejected or what to do now. Does anybody have any advice?

What does the rejection letter say?

If his wage hasn’t increased by 25% or more then the calculation will stay the same until the annual review. could that be why?

momager22 · 01/07/2026 08:22

What is the reason for rejection ?

sharkstale · 01/07/2026 08:38

@JustAnotherWhinger@momager22it says no evidence, although I've provided the evidence as best I can that show him on the company's website and on their social media as a new employee as of May.

Based on my experience I suggest that they are just being useless.

His earnings can be viewed by the DWP / CMS

It may be that at the time you submitted them they did not have a report via PAYE.

I suggest making a formal complaint that they have made a completely unreasonable decision given the evidence provided.

If that is unsuccessful contact the Independent Complaints Examiner - whose staff find the CMS just as frustrating as everybody else

Independent Case Examiner

The Independent Case Examiner reviews complaints about certain government organisations that deal with benefits, work and financial support. ICE works with the Department for Work and Pensions .

I had similar. Saw my ex doing an interview on the news on tv with his new job title!

a quick google and he had had this new for almost a year. I questioned it with CMS and because it was less that 25% it wasn’t counted until next tax year

I've spoken to somebody and they've raised a mandatory reconsideration. Apparently it's up for review this month anyway so hopefully they look into it properly now that they have this information. Bit concerned now though as they were so quick to reject it initially.
