Has your daughter had chickenpox? Shingles can spread CP with contact with fluid from the blisters. Are you taking painkillers too?

I am on day 9 of shingles. Mine is all over my back. I finished my antivirals yesterday. Now I am told I just have to wait and see how bad the nerve pain will be after the blisters have scabbed.
I used camomile lotion dabbed on the blisters with cotton wool to contain the itching. Overall my experience to date has been tolerable. Last Wednesday was the worst. Roughly day 5/6 The hot climate coupled with the itching and painful burning sensation literally made me extremely tired and uncomfortable. I just took off all my clothes and stood in a lukewarm shower for a good twenty minutes. For 2/3 days I wore a single cotton bedsheet wrapped around my body.
Could not bear any clothes even though they were loose. I gave myself the permission not to do anything around the house Just rested and slept when necessary.
today I felt human again. I hope your journey through this is tolerable.

@cheekaa sorry to hear you have shingles too, I was shocked when the dr told me that’s what I had…

Glad your feeling a bit better it’s an awful thing to have isn’t it, did you feel run down and flu like symptoms?

Honestly I think it varies hugely - my husband had shingles years ago and had zero effects, we actually only realised because I had never had chicken pox and caught it from his shingles rash before we realised what it was.

my mum had it in her seventies and had anti-virals and v mild effects. But some people suffer dreadfully.

I wouldn’t worry unduly, maybe make plans to ensure you have food in etc in case you’re v unwell but fingers crossed you won’t be badly effected

Mine was mild, I felt a bit crappy on day one but that was it really. Hope it goes ok for you too.

@lockdownmummaxActually I had never felt better before the shingles blisters began to appear. I had so many people telling me their personal negative experiences but I kept an open mind and just took each day as it came. I live on my own so had no responsibility to look after anyone else. My main negative experience was having to cancel all my outings that I had planned before the shingles. I stayed away from other people and used the last few days to give my body a complete rest. Luckily I am blessed with a great support system so had friends to talk to on the phone. I was still able to pop out to the local shops to get anything if needed. Take care of yourself. Happy to answer any questions you may have.
