I usually have my teenage daughter most of the time but at the moment she’s staying at her dad’s and won’t see me at all. This is all very sudden and what she says in brief messages doesn’t seem like it justifies this (we had a row). I’ve got good reasons to believe there’s alienation coming from him. Because of her age I likely won’t get a court order and I’m not going to force her anyhow. I don’t know what to do.

Keep it light and invite her out to Starbucks/Costa for a catch up.

Just keep in touch and as pp said, keep it light - offer to meet up for coffee and cake or a bit of shopping. Don't beg her to come home. It's quite normal for teenagers to do the 'I'm going to live with my dad' thing after a row - the novelty of living with Dad will soon wear off. Dad will probably get fed up with a messy stroppy teen as well!

What was the row about?

Not keen to give details for fear of outing. It wasn’t nothing but I apologised.

The row is probably the reason though??

Asq · 15/06/2026 00:20

If it was her dad she had a row with everyone would be saying it’s understandable she doesn’t want to see him. Just wait it out she will come around probably 🤷‍♀️

Fair enough. But it's hard to make suggestions about how to resolve the fallout from an argument without knowing what the argument was about. I hope you can repair your relationship with your daughter.
