Currently work part time. No family support. Ex does EOW thats it. DC will start high school this year.

Wondering when you increased your hours once your child started high school?

My DC are young but I work 24hrs a week but term time only, plus any overtime I can get.

Interested what others do. My main job is contracted and then I usually work 2 weeks of the month around 38 hours (as DC goes to his dads on those days). I am actually finding the older they get ita harder. Watching who they are talking to online, monitoring screen time and making sure they arent hanging around with bad people.

I do have to work school hols too so thats something I am thinking about.

Do family and DC dad help out too? Especially in the school hols.

No. I’m NC with my mother. My dad is 6 hours away. DS’s dad hasn’t spoken to him for 2 years. Have absolutely no support at all. School hols were all managed with holiday clubs.

I worked full time after 6 months maternity leave for each son.

Solo parent from ds2 14 months old.

I could afford nursery/after school and holiday club during the school holidays. Which was just as well as child support from Dad petered out after a few years.

I didn’t live near family so no support.
Helped that I worked in IT where I could work from
home if kids off sick (when they weren’t seriously ill needing my attention)
