School Uniform

I am going to ask ds's dad (who has paid me nothing for around 18 months now) to chip in with the school uniform. What do you reckon my chances are?

Seriously, ive just added it all up, buying from two different shops as various things are cheaper. Plus trousers and things I will try and get from Matalan or George, somewhere like that. Im nearly at the £200.00 mark (cant buy cheap blazer as its a strange colour combination and other things have to have the logo on), and that's just ds.

I have dd starting school as well this year although her uniform will be easier as its a normal colour.

I need a lie down!

How does he get away with it? (Rhetorical q, don't answer it unless you want to, shybaby.) You may be entitled to means-tested help with uniform, so it's worth making enquiries to your local authority.

This school uniform thing makes me cross, because the fashion has changed from practical sweatshirt to expensive blazer as schools seem to think it will improve behaviour and achievement generally. It's just state schools trying to ape private schools imo and not something I want to finance.

We have to re-kit our dds who will be Yr 8 and Yr 9 respectively because the school has decided to change the uniform completely.
It will cost several hundred pounds that we can't afford.
