Night weaning

Does anyone have any experience of night weaning an almost one year old alone? Everywhere i read says get dad to take over nights, but that isnt an option.
Baby turns 1 in a couple of weeks so isn't old enough to understand if I try to explain to him reasons why he can't have boob. He wakes up to comfort feed ALOT (every hour on a good night) and it's too much for me now, but I've no idea how to stop.
Any advice welcome please. TIA

I offered water and something plain like a bit of rice cake, dropped one wake at a time. Are you co sleeping? I had them in their own cot and that helped a lot
