Kids have been awful

My kids have been absolutely awful this holiday. I was really looking forward to it but they’ve just been vile and have had me in tears. It’s so hard not having another parent to send them to. What do you do when you really need a break but can’t get one?

Sorry, that’s really tough.
How old are they?

BossManPizza · 29/12/2025 23:21

Depends on their ages tbh but if old enough I would send them to their rooms and have a nap, tell them when you get up you will give them some cleaning/homework to do, hopefully they won't want to wake you and will be quiet.

BossManPizza · 29/12/2025 23:24

Nope tried that and he started shouting and throwing things was concerned
the neighbours would call the police

Those are tricky ages, personally found them harder than the toddler years.
At 15, is your eldest responsible enough to supervise them at the cinema?

BossManPizza · 29/12/2025 23:27

No they don’t get on I wouldn’t send them out to the cinema together would be a disaster. The 11 and 13 year old hate each other

At those big ages I’d be taking myself for a day out. They’ll survive.

BossManPizza · 30/12/2025 11:19

With probably the police called they fight like cats and dogs someone needs to be here to break it up.

I have the same age gap with my siblings. At those ages we fought constantly when our parents were around, but when left alone just stayed out of each other's way. Have you tried leaving them? Even just to go for a walk.

BossManPizza · 30/12/2025 11:26

Yes I’ve been out and left them and they are exactly the same

So let them call the police and let the 15 year old have a lecture on abusive behaviour!

I doubt it would just be a lecture. I’d be responsible for leaving them.

Will they actually hurt each other? They're old enough to be left and you need a break. The neighbours will be a little disturbed, if the police come you're not getting into trouble for leaving kids that age while you walk to the shop for 30 mins.

If the 2 youngest being together are the issue can you take one with you when you go out? Maybe do something actually nice 1-1.

Trampoline parks are good for this age, no need to go near each other and a good hour with a book and coffee for you.

I am very sorry. I do not know how single parents manage at all.

Back to school soon.

And sorry I should clarify the 11 and 13 year old are the ones that fight constantly.

Yes they physically fight all the time.
