Any housing advice?

I’m a single parent of teens. I have spent the last few years retraining due to complete soon. There isn’t anything for me in the area I live in, family have moved away. I would like to start my new career in a different area and move home for a fresh start in the summer. The difficult part is I am private renting. How can I do this as currently I have a student loan and uc top up. I’m presuming landlords won’t take me I don’t have a guarantor. Eventually I’d like to buy but I need to be working first! I have lived in my current home for a long time and was previously working. I’m trying to move before dc have to worry about further education etc. Has anyone done similar or got advice?

In short, you need a guarantor, or you need to accept you need to work in your current area for a few years first (which would then mean seeing out your teens education). You're too much of a risk as a renter right now to start afresh.

It only works if done in stages.

Alternatively, can you bid on council properties of the area you’re wanting to
move to? Although with no ties or work there I’m not entirely sure how it would work.

Is there any work available within commutable distance?

I don’t think council properties house anyone in this area unless they are homeless or heading that way. As I have a home I wouldn’t be deemed essential. There may be work that is commutable but it would be a long drive from current home to new area. But that may be my best option as a starting point.
