is this normal? my kids bring up their absent father every single day, no lies, I have asked if they want to see him but they both claim they don’t? so why bring him up every single day? I have no family so maybe that’s why I don’t know? But I say do you want to see him and they say they don’t anyone have experience of this?

It depends on your kids' age and relationship with their absentee dad.

From what you provided, it sounds like they are just trying to figure out what type of person he is, and to process the abandonment.

My eldest still asks sometimes about the DeadBeat FuckWit when it's just the two of us and usually it's right before going to workout or playing a contact sport, otherwise it was discussed in therapy when he was younger. I always try to answer as honestly and age appropriately when it happens and try to keep it to the facts then shift subjects.

They are not asking questions they are bringing him up and making jokes about him, it’s every single day they bring him up
