Child Maintenance - additional children reduction

Does anyone know what the 'qualifying criteria' is for the reduction to apply?

Ex-husband currently gets a reduction for 2 dc (not his, but live with him) and I'm not sure he's still entitled to it. One is over 18 and working. CMS are useless and keep saying they get taken off when child benefit department advise them to....but there's no child benefit claim for them as he earns too much.

Yes I am interested in replies to this as my ex gets reduction for his stepson but I am sure he is also over 18 now

Can’t you inform child benefit yourself of this ? I’m sure that would trigger something

Keep pushing because they do the bare minimum

For children to be taken into account child benefit will need to have been claimed. its a criteria that has to be met for relevant other children. You can claim child benefit, but opt out of payments if you are a huge earner.

Is the child working part time alongside being at college. Being 18 doesn't automatically make they no longer qualify, just like once your children turn 18 they will still be eligible for CM so long as the relevant criteria is met.

Raise the change online for it to be investigated and CHild benefit will be checked. If they are not returning to education in Sept they will be removed in September.
