How far can I move with the dc away from my ex?

My ex is a controlling, bullying nasty piece of work who uses the children as weapons against me. They are not happy going off with him & I sense trouble ahead. Ideally id like to put as much distance as possible between us. How far am I allowed to legally move the dc away from their father? (Cant believe its come to this & im asking this question sad)

I dont know how far you can move legally. If he has PR he could try to stop you but if he isnt too bohered then i dont think he would.
I moved about 70 miles away from my ex with our ds although this was due to me living near his family and completely isolated from mine and everyone else after we split.

He has currently moved about 60 miles away from our former family home where I currently still live with the dc. I wish the nasty piece of work would emigrate.

We moved 40 miles away from XH - he was fuming as we used to live on his way home from work now we live in the same county as him, whereas before we didn't, so now he has to leave work, drive past our old house, get stuck on the M25 and then the A12 for at least an hour before he gets to us - he sought legal advice and they told him we were within our rights to move especially as we were now in the same county as him and if he had gone to court he would have been laughed at!

twinkie1 pmsl wish i could move but lack of cash precludes it. down here need mths deposit and months rent i too wish he would emigrate he causing me no end of bother lately. he won't let me get on with my life even though i left him 8 mths ago, now have booked sol's appt to try and see what mynext step is. he is a controlling nasty piece of work and am now isolated from my daughter's great aunt, she was help to me in past and all because of the lies he has been peddling.

Am thinking of exactly same thing - my solicitor said that even with parental responsibility (my ex shithead doesnt have that ....yet) I can move anywhere within the courts jurisdiction - (England & wales) and there is sod all he can do about it so put as much distance between you and him as you want honey.(grin)

The only major drawback I can see is a court ordering that because I moved so far away I have to travel half way or possibly the whole way to meet him so he can have access to the dc. If I moved hours & hours away that wouldnt be much fun for me or the dc & would take up huge amounts of time & petrol.

That's true - I think you might get told you have to travel and so on to enable visits?

I want to know how far we can go as well.
I might stop worrying so much if I find another husband...then he could adopt and ex would be out of the picture I think?

A new partner would only be able to adopt your dc if your ex agreed to it. He is still their father whatever happens, & unless he chooses to drop all contact theres nothing much you can do to avoid seeing him at some point.

Apparently you can ask them not to contact him. He hasn't actually ever seen his child who is now a year old.
I don't think he would have to be consulted. At least that's what I hope...unless he had started visiting regularly by then?

There is no legal distance, you could if you want move to australia/new zealand.

Your ex though may take the matter of you moving the dc way to a solicitor and then on to court. This doens't mean though that he is likely to win a case and prevent you from moving away with the dc.

What though if you moved and he followed - what would you do then?

Is your dh a threat to your children safety if not why are you so intent on moving dc away from him ?
