I’m doing NOTHING today and it’s wonderful

How often do you get to do nothing as a single parent?

I rarely get time to myself. And it’s exquisite the feeling of not having to go anywhere, do anything or do anything for anyone else (it’s not 100% true because I’m still rearranging appointments & doing little bits but it’s as close as I’m going to get).

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

When DD is on holidays. It’s not 100% relaxing because she solo travels but I do next to nothing - I’m very organised naturally so there’s no chaos at home to manage.

I love these moments! When I know its coming up I even do all of the annoying/bigger housework jobs before hand so I only have to 'potter'.

I make sure I have fresh sheets, my fave snacks in & spend the time hibernating with a good book or tv series....it's bliss!

This didn’t last long, sadly. It’s all gone tits up again and as usual who has to deal with it? Single parenting is bloody hard.

Sorry it didn’t last for you OP single parenting is so hard. I cook a few extra meals for the freezer for when DD is away so I don’t even have to think about food and just have my home cooked “ready meals”. I really don’t want to think about anything at all when I have downtime. The mental load is huge.

That sounds like a brilliant strategy - anything to lighten the load.
That’s exactly what it is though, the mental load. The physical part is easy in comparison.
