Going to wedding alone, dreading it

It is my best friends wedding, I am bridesmaid so no question of me not going, but I am absolutly without a doubt dreading having to sit there with a huge room full of loved up couples (I don't mean the bride and groom, i expect them to be loved up lol).

The only other person I know going that is single is my dad.

I will end up sat on my own or with my dad all day/night.

I am staying over too, so will be alone at breakfast too. Seriously considering not stopping over tbh.

I do know I am being stupid by the way, but I actually get really upset when I think about it.

I bet you have a great time. Honey go to enjoy yourself. You never know who you might meet or what might happen.

And I bet you'll look gorgeous too!

I think the fact that you a bridesmaid will make the whole thing easier.
You'll have a job to do, and everyone will chat to you, and include you in everything.
It'll be fine.

could you invite a friend along in the evening? or get the bride to introduce you some of her other friends?

oh come on it could be worse you could be having to sit next to xp

I am looking forward to getting dressed up, having hair and makeup done etc, but that is it LOL.

I am dreading walking down the isle, cos I have to go first and on my own, and think I may hyperventilate half way down.

It isn't until August and I am a nervous wreck already.

Definatly no chance of copping off, not with the knickers I got to go under my dress the other day LOL.

Maybe it isn't that bad afterall.

I do know some of the other guests, but they are all couples and one bloke I dont want to speak to.

How soon in the day do you think I will be able to get drunk LOL.

In my experience, weddings are a fantastic place to meet men. I met my DP at a wedding and have one dd and one on the way.

Go with an open mind and a smile on your face. I bet you have a fab time.

I told my friend that I wasn't taking the kids, as i thought i deserved a nice night on my own, but am now thinking of taking them afterall to keep me company, how sad is that.

9am sounds about right, and hey some of those happy couples will be sitting there wishing they were with someone else/with anyone but them etc..you forget this tho and think its all rosey in coupledom, it isnt

I reckon you'll be so busy doing bridesmaid stuff that you'll hardly notice. Are you on the main table for dinner?

I go to weddings on my own all the time, nutty, and I love it! Weddings are the perfect opportunity to flirt and as bridesmaid I bet you look lovely and are beating them off with a sharp stick by the time the speeches roll around

And then a night in a hotel on your own, no kids, no snoring 'd'p - bliss! Do what I do and order breakfast in your room if you don't want to sit in the dining room alone - newspaper, breakfast in bed...seriously, you'll have fun, I promise!

Nope not on main table, there was too many of us cos all the other bridesmaids wanted to sit with their men .

Not sure who I am sat with tbh, but probably my dad and then possibly brides sister and her bloke, and maybe brides grandad.

there are bound to be some singletons - gat the bride to put you together if you are of the same age, you'll soon get to know people over a glass of wine!

I did fym and she really struggled to think of anyone else single going.

I don't want to be a pain anyway cos there is already one person she can't sit me with. Don't want her to have to arrange everything according to who I do or don't want to sit by.

My other woory is that at some point I might cry for no good reason lol. Am alot more emotional than I used to be, and loved up people in films makes me cry, nevermind rl.

God what do I sound like. Honestly though you should have seen me after I watched Ps I love You the other night.

I too end up going to lots of occasions on my own and it feels wrong doesn't it? you feel exposed and lonely.
BUT!
I think that you will enjoy yourself on the day. As someone has already said, you'll be part of the main attraction and people will want to chat with you.
DON'T get drunk, that just makes you look like a saddo. Put a huge smile on your fac, because that always draws people to you and you might just meet the man of your dreams.
