How long before he wriggles out of this one?

Since 2018 I have been on a rollercoaster ride with CM from dd's absent father.

They calculate how much he owes, then promptly 'receive information that he is on benefits', at one point he allegedly didn't even qualify to pay anything! For the record, he is a plumber so clearly working cash in hand.

Anyhoo, I've had the annual review and they have once again calculated that he has suddenly come off benefits, and now must pay around £450 a month, compared to the £26 he has been paying (or not!) thus far.

Anyone want to make a bet that I receive another letter in the next week or so saying it's been recalculated and now he's back to £26 a month?! I just know it will happen. He owes me over £5k in arrears just on the £26 a month.

How on earth does he keep getting away with it?! How?!!!!!!!

a tale as old as time sadly. i'm in the same position. ex is freelance but not in a cash in hand industry. i suspect he was putting earnings in a relatives account for years but he has now fallen out with that relative and i think he has opened accounts in the children's names instead to launder the earnings.
according to cms he was on benefits (stopped when i reported him to dwp) then he had zero income for a year and now he allegedly earns £8000 a year...
i'm biding my time to catch him out on this.
in the meantime there is a CMS call for evidence by the government where you can submit your story. it's the only way things are going to change by having voices heard. at least there is an appetite to listen. i hand also sent the link to my MP asking them to contribute on behalf of constituents.

????

since 2018??

Well yes, with additional months where he was directed to pay more and then obviously didn't as the poor little diddums didn't have to pay whilst CMS investigated and he swiftly applied to go back on benefits.

Absolute joke of a system.

My ex husband owes £8,000. I will never see it.
Funny I get more now he's claiming UC then I did when he worked full time, ... only cos they take the money out of his benefits before he receives them!
Sad really, not wanting to contribute towards your child's upbringing, as as he hasn't seen them for years!
