lol. it all come thru today no more little miss no future today's the start of it all. (have already been proactive n emailed off a load of new friends (hopefully) on netmums) and also my open university course stuff has come today!

YAY!!! i'm officially a student again! but it looks so daunting, and it's only the very basic short course - how will I cope with the next levelled stuff?

will do this thou - onwards n upwards, for mine & ds's financial future I need to do this.

davidtennantsmistress · 13/05/2008 13:45

y162 starting with mathematics, then hopefully in sept the mt121 one with a view to a degree next sept & basically being a maths teacher at the end of it all. will be good to get the old brain into gear again!

Well done DTM

I'm doing Y158 and Y160 openings courses too.
I make sure I pick up the books every night and have a read through. Still not heard off my tutor though.

Good luck!

you to po - when do your courses start - mine aren't meant to till the end of the month - but might give it a go early - think i'll need all the help I can get after 10 years! lol.

oh i did the mt121

its pretty good, and easy enough (I got 96% overall )

there is a diagnostic test on their site also if you need it

best of luck!

Fillyjonk · 13/05/2008 17:52

my tutor was great

but the one for the course BEFORE was just HORRIBLE (it was the open mathematics, can't remember code)

he knew I had 2 kids and another on the way and so couldn't do bloody evening tutorials at 8pm

I was getting +85% on TMAs

he used to send me snidey emails along the lines of "I do hope you will make it a new years resolution to remember the time of the tutorials and come"

I was truly delighted to get a distinction on that course, i can tell you

davidtennantsmistress · 13/05/2008 18:59

oh no don't say that! I need to ring them and decide on which one to do - I had wanted to do them both together but apparently I can't?

what did you go onto do after?

good for you dtm
got to dash sorry, meant to be doing college work not mn

Fillyjonk · 13/05/2008 20:37

really?

i did them together

open maths and using maths iirc

most ou tutors are lovely! if you needed to you could ask to change, i think. I really didn't need anything from him, so i just let him go.

Tippychick · 14/05/2008 10:43

yay dtm, good on ya.

I got an unconditional offer after my interview for my degree course yesterday so I'm happy too. And a wee bit daunted but am sure we'll take to student life with ease. Are you coming to the union for a (virtual) subsidised pint and roll-up DTM?

davidtennantsmistress · 16/05/2008 09:30

filly I need to give them a call as I say.

tiuppy yep i'll come down - show me that bar! lol.

started the text books and so far so good, looks good finding it intresting, am now armed with pencils & paper so ready to go!
