So tell me that ds (5.5) WILL be fine with his dad - he was crying when he went

H moved out a month ago, he has been having the dc's one night in the week and one night/day at the weekend. He picked them up this evening.
Both were looking forward to it (although ds1 - 5.5y - has been scratchy since I picked him up from school).
ds1 basically fell apart when it was time to go, crying when he got in the car, very upset.
I KNOW he will be alright with his dad, I KNOW he loves his dad and that his dad loves him.
I don't know why I am typing this - need to just get it out I guess.

Must be difficult for all of you.
You know DS will be fine, but so hard to see him upset.
Have you got any nice plans for this evening?

ChasingSquirrels · 09/05/2008 17:59

thanks, I am going out for a meal with a friend and a couple of her friends (she bullied me into it - which is good - seeing as what I would prefer to do it sit at home and cry)

I hope you have a good evening.
Will the children call you before bedtime, or is that not a great idea?

Your friends sound fab - glad they're looking after you.

I haven't been speaking to them while they are there (they only go at 5pm, and will be in bed by 8pm).
Not sure if it would be a good idea or not, he will probably be fine now and it might just set him off again. But then again it shows him I love him and am thinking of him.
I am going to go and read a book in the bath.
Thank you for replying HC.

Hi CS I replied to your other thread today.

This is so hard and probably best to leave them to it unless you would have said goodnight if they went away together.

I always think the test is what would I do if we still were together and X had taken them away for a day? If you would have phoned then to say goodnight behave as normal.

um, very difficult, he never took them out for the day alone - we went together.
I think I am best not calling, we had a chat and lots of hugs and I told him I loved him alot, and I would see him tomorrow etc.
