Hello everyone! I am a young mom and my sons father has never been involved in his life. My son was a 1 year old when his father started reaching out. I told him that if he wanted to be involved he would have to get a court order for visitation he said he would do it and never did a year later he keeps texting every once in a while trying to be involved. His father lives in a different city and he actually is not on any of my sons documents (birth certificate, etc.). I really do not know if i should allow him to be in my child's life considering he was denying being my sons father because of this I do not think he would be consistent in my child's life. I feel conflicted as in to what I should do/consider.

I would stick to your original request that he gain formal access via a court order, which is not unreasonable. If he cannot be bothered to fill in a form, he really isn't that bothered about his child, is he?

Does he pay child maintenance?

I suspect his actions are more a ploy to get you back than his child. Maybe he's going through a dry patch romantically speaking, and contacting old girlfriends looking for easily available sex.

No he has never paid child maintenance. I guess that does make sense since he has requested to see me multiple times so that we can "discuss" in person what would be best for "our" child.

I second sticking to telling him he needs go to court for access.

He doesn't sound like someone who is capable of being a positive influence on your child's life. Keep him at arms length. Definitely no meeting up to discuss DC. Sounds like he has an ulterior motive there!
