Child maintenance payment

Applied for official chil maintenance paying in October but haven't heard back from them since my original application beginning of October they said should take 4-6 weeks is now almost 9 weeks since. I cant find my reference number anywhere an they arent speaking with me and I can't provide it and won't take any other method of security. Is there any way of speaking to someone or finding out how long it will be until I get my first payment. And will it be for example £200 or will it be a lump sum from the father's child of the 2-3 months months payments ?

I hope this makes sense

I presume you've got a portal set up? If not do that now. However, you do need your 12 digit number which will be on any letter they have sent you.

Check your emails - you should find the reference number there. The CMS process is very long winded and can take months for anything substantial to happen.

They should have sent you a letter and that has your 12 digit ref no on it .

Wil there be a lump sum or just the initial amount agreed ?

The money you get will depend on what your ex pays and you know better than we do if he is likely to pay willingly. They can’t force him. A CSA claim isn’t a guarantee of more money. It will be calculated on his earnings and if/when he pays, that’s what you will receive.

A lump sum is unlikely.

It will state a monthly sum to be paid normally the month after the decision ie his pay day. It won't be backdated to the month you applied in.

Ah that's fine I belive it should be around 190 - 200 me and kids dad are on decent (ish) terms wouldnt want him to pay months and months if missed payments so if it's just starts at e.g 200 that will be less stress for him
