Worried about the future

I’m hoping I’ve posted on the right board, as I’m after some advice.
Split from my husband 6 months ago due to him having emotional affair / untrustworthy / sneaking around etc. we have a 3 year old and me and my son live in a rented property that me and my ex moved into a year ago. Ex isn’t living here but said he will pay the rent until I get myself sorted (permanent contract at work). I’m applying for universal credit to top up my salary to afford the rent. However, a friend has advised that the landlord may not want me to continue at the property if I’m paying via universal credit as it puts me as a high risk renter. I have savings and my parents will act as a guarantor if needed. Has anyone experienced something similar and has any advice please?
