Not moved and now there's rats.

I posted last week that I was supposed to be moving by this week. That's all gone to pot as there have been some unexpected delays. Now looking at earliest 8th November.

However it's now come to light there has been a 'rat presence' in the house. I popped on Monday and looked in the window to see a large amount of dead and alive bluebottles. I rang the estate agent, who rang the seller. The following day I saw as part of an email thread between the solicitors that there had been rats.

Apparently pest control had been twice and they'd been coming in from the empty property adjoining the house im buying-through holes in the loft. Apparently they've been poisoned and it's resolved. However, no one informed me and by the look of all those bluebottles there are dead rats knocking round the house.

I have contacted the estate agent whose sold the house next door and they said they've had pest control out but they couldn't find the origin.

I now feel sick at the thought of moving my 4 kids into a house where there may still be rats-dead or alive, or poison or traps/flies/smells.

I haven't signed anything yet for the sale but it's imminent-im supposed to be signing the transfer document next week and I don't know what to do.

The house I'm living in has had the transfer document signed by my ex husband as its only his name on the deeds. So the sale will have to go ahead.

What would everyone else do???

Ask The seller to clean it up, it’s still their house so their mess.
And when you move in, get your own pest control in to look at your loft.
Does either your house or next door have decking or a compost heap?
