Kids are with their dad until 4pm and I am bored.

Have loads of housework to do, so will do that at some point, but otherwise, I am bored.

What do you all do when your kids aren't there ??

I get a few hours every other sunday.Even though I look forward to the break,I find it hard to relax properly, like I'm on standby!

I try not to do any housework if I can help it-I do it beforehand so my time's not spent doing all the chores!

I have some dvds that I like to watch, have a soak in the bath without constant interuptions, read the paper,go on mumsnet!

Is hard because I haven't got anyone to meet up with, think it would be more fun if I did, even if I could just invite them round for a glass of wine or meet for lunch/cinema.

Was going to go to cinema on my own last week but no decent films right now!

I have my son 24/7 and never ever get a break as my son's father has been AWOL since I was pregnant.

So i'm afraid I have no idea what to suggest you do, but I would would love to be able to find out what I would do in that situation...

...Just to have half an hour to put my feet up in peace, or to go shopping without having to drag him around with me, or to have the tv on a channel i want to watch, and to make something i would like to eat for lunch... And I have so many jobs that never get done such as sorting out the pile of paperwork on my desk, or finishing some of my creative writing projects that have been on hold since I went back to work. I might even get the decorating i started last summer finished...

Is there nothing you enjoyed doing before your children came along that you don't get time for now? Gardening, needlework, painting, reading a book...? I'm sure you could find somethign to do. Personally i'd start by putting my feet up with a big mug of hot chocolate, a magazine and some silence!

how are things going with Ex DP???? x

Pinkchampagne · 19/04/2008 12:29

I have my children with their dad until 4pm too.

I have stacks I should be doing in the house, and was going to make sure all was done before I switched on my PC, but kind of failed there!

I have just had my food shopping delivered, and put it all away.
Will soon make myself some lunch & then maybe take a walk into town (always easier without children!), to see if I can find anything nice to cook for my man tonight. If I can't, he can buy me a takeaway!

I just enjoy the peace when the boys are with their dad!

Oh you lucky thing, NumberSix! sounds like bliss to me.

newgirl · 19/04/2008 12:43

maybe not today but why not plan something really random eg horseriding?! a one off that would be a laugh and get you outside. Book a bike ride with a friend? Go to a sophisticated cafe for a very large coffee and a cake and take glossy magazines with you. Book a facial/hair cut/pedicure. Watch oceans 13 - very funny and full of lovely looking blokes!

Definitely go outside that always makes me feel much better.

No list yet mmj, we don't go until Sept, so I have a bit of time yet, although i'm sure it will fly by

I hate going out on my own, would never go to the pics on my own, so most of the time when the kids are with xp, I stay in and do nowt.

I have just made apple crumble for the first ever time, it is in the oven as I type, so fingers crossed it is nice.

Unfortunatly all my friends are busy of a weekend, and my mum works.

Newgirl, I know you only meant to something different but your suggestion of horseriding made me lol, I am scared to death of horses

Oh xp is still being weird. When he collected the kids he said

'so did one of the kids have an assembly then yesterday ?'

I was confused, as they hadn't had one and I couldn't figure out why he though they had. Then he says..'cos you were later walking back from school weren't you'

Fucking stalker he is. I was later walking home yeah, i'd been to the doctors.

I am never gonna get used to him living on my doorstep.

maybe you should bite the bullet and try doing things on your own?
Try going to the cinema, you might love sitting in the darkness with no little ones to take to the loo (I love going on my own)

about stalker ex. He sounds like a loon!

CrackerOfNuts · 19/04/2008 13:09

He is posie, I wish he'd meet someone else, cos I know he'd drop me like a hot brick then.

I would have gone shopping today, but I am trying not to spend any money at the mo and I hate it if I can't buy lol.

OP posts:
CrackerOfNuts · 19/04/2008 13:09

Actually posie, sitting in the dark, watching a film, without being disturbed, does sound very good.

Will have a look at cinema website and see what is coming up.

posieflump · 19/04/2008 13:09

where are you off to in Sept? somewhere hot?

posieflump · 19/04/2008 13:10

I'm such a pig if I go to the cinema alone, I get a big bag of pick n' mix, big bag of toffee popcorn and love that no little fingers want any of it

CrackerOfNuts · 19/04/2008 13:11

Salou I am so excited, cannot wait to see the kids faces, and see them relaxed and enjoying themselves.

Me and my mum are going to sit on the veranda every night with wine and nibbles, whilst the kids snore their exhausted heads off after being in the pool all day. Well thats the plan anyway.

Last night I dreamt that my mate threw me a 30th birthday party, and now I want one, only if I don;t have to organise it myself mind LOL.

CrackerOfNuts · 19/04/2008 13:20

Just checked on the crumble and it smells and looks fantastic.

Thicko question alert - When I take it out, do I just leave it on worktop to cool down ? Then what, cover with foil and leave until I want to eat it all later

OP posts:
gillybean2 · 19/04/2008 14:18

Eat it while it's hot silly. If it needs cooling down pour custard over it! But yes you can let it cool and then heat it up again later i suppose, though really you wouldn't cook it till you wanted to eat it usually....

CrackerOfNuts · 19/04/2008 14:28

I can't eat it now, the dc will want some.

It is cool now, so will see who wants it warm and who doesn't later, and stick some in the micro if needs be.

I am tempted to have my bit now LOL.

Loulou72 · 19/04/2008 17:20

Mine is at his dad's all weekend, so I am going out tonight (woo!).

Scared stiff of drinking too much and being incapable when he is returned tomorrow afternoon.....Gave up on hangovers when I became a mum....

Pinkchampagne · 19/04/2008 17:27

Make sure you have plenty to eat so that your stomach is lined before you go out. That should stop you getting too drunk, and less likely to be hung over in the morning!(Talking from expeience here!)

Have a great night & make the most of it!
