Sorry if this isn't in the right place, I'm completely new and confused to all of this!
I applied for CMS in May 2024 and saw it can take 8 weeks to process, and up to 12 weeks to receive a first payment. I'm completely fine with that, but it's now been just over 12 weeks and I've heard nothing about anything.
I know he's replied and answered their questions, he did this in May. I opted for direct pay (I feel in the future this will change because he's not very responsible) and was wondering if I needed to do anything.
I've tried to call a few times around my work shifts and never have joy getting through to anyone, I've just "waited it out" so to speak.
Since May, he's not paid a penny towards his son - nursery, feeding, uniform for him starting school. We don't have a set routine either of when he has him. His mum however has my son regularly one night per week - but not him. He is down as living with his mother, so I'm pretty sure he'll have claimed he has him once per week. He has said he will have him "every other weekend" but this is a very new thing and it's been very sporadic when he's seen him since May.
I just submitted a text file politely requesting an update as it's been on "contacting other parent," since May and hasn't budged or had any update since. Does anyone have any similar situations of how long they had to wait?
Other parent works a good job and has no priority debts but is horrific with money. He's got maxed out credit cards and will finance everything he can't afford, from new clothes to Temu purchases and takeaways. Will this put a hold on things progressing as he's seen as being in debt and can't afford to pay anything?
He's down as living with his mother, so no utilities other than phone bill/car insurance etc to pay but forever claims he's absolutely skint - but is always buying new material items, booking weekends away etc and out doing what he wants.
I don't care if he has to pay £1 a week, it's more the unease of knowing nothing and being anxious I've done something incorrect as there's been no updates?
