Anyone have experience of giving a family member parental responsibility alongside you and your ex-partner

Has anyone here got any experience of giving a family member (my sibling in this case) parental responsibility? If so, how did you do this.

I would like to do this as ex will not parent the kids and the kids dont want to see him or live with him, so I want a person just in case anything happens to me. Ex will not be helpful with this at all.

You won't be able to do this without the father's permission.

Do you know the process for doing this?

I think you need to speak to a solicitor specialising in family law because I imagine the first step is to get your ex's PR revoked or limited in some way although I have no idea how that works.

First poster has it, you need the father's permission. Unless he is behaving dangerously and his actions/inactions are seriously (and I mean, SERIOUSLY) impacting the child I don't think you have any chance, sorry.

Even a father that has a no contact order still has pr (my children's father)
You need to write your request for your children in your Will. This does not how ever mean it will be granted as if the father changes his mind, the children will go to him even if the children don't want it .

I'm not looking to remove him, just add am extra person. I have legal advice but just wondered if anyone else had done this and how it went.

Children absolutely don't want to live with him and I don't think he will want them either.

Yes I've done it. I wrote my request in my Will, after obviously checking with the 2 people I want to look after the children.
