Summer holidays as a single parent

Kind of hit me this weekend, we went away to a seaside holiday park - just me and the two kids. Surrounded by families, I felt a little deflated by this but it is what it is.. I should point out I don't have an issue taking my two away and we rub along very well together! I could see other families actively trying to avoid us 🤦‍♀️ like the single mother might steal their man. No frigging chance of that, but it got me thinking about would this also happen abroad. So far as a single mother I've only done UK holidays but I'm planning to take us all to the canaries for Christmas. What's your experience been like? I keen to hear others opinions on this.

Single mum here. One child aged eight. We've always done a lot of city holidays or travelling between cities and a bit of beachy stuff. Mostly it's because it's hard and stressful to have a beach / resort holiday when you're on your own cos you can't take your eyes off them in the sea / pool and it's not relaxing at all. I can't leave our stuff on the beach whilst I go in the sea with kid but equally I can't let the kid go in the sea alone. It's suited us well mostly. I did do a Spanish resort holiday over Easter a couple of years ago and lots of families took us under their wing as a single parent family which was nice to get a bit of adult company. This summer, we went to Vancouver. Last summer we went interrailing round Europe. But yes, it's stressful at times, especially when unexpected things happen like delayed flights etc and you don't have another adult to lean on. I tend to have a break alone when DC goes to his dad's.

@dillydal sounds like you've had quite a positive experience with others whilst on holiday which is encouraging! My two are older so can swim and go in the sea together-both very confident swimmers now fortunately. I've actually booked for us to go to the canaries for Christmas. I done quite a bit of research and found this villa complex with private pools ☺️ this will definitely be a bonus as I won't feel so looked at hopefully..
