how do you manage without ending up with a severe case of bad-mother-guilt-syndrome?

You have to easy on yourself, in the past I've resorted to a pile of DVD's, a bag of pick & mix for each dc and a duvet on the sofa for me. Are you having a bad day?

Quite right, brightwell. Have a sofa day in your PJs with your duvet. Everyone comes to sit with you and chat, cuddle up, play I-spy, but nobody does bollox all except lounge. My kids love the attention when I have a sofa day cos I'm not too busy cleaning, etc, to talk to them.
We can't always be a good mother. Somedays, we can only manage to be a 'good enough' mother, but you shouldn't feel guilty about your efforts Squigglywig. You're the one doing all the work for them after all.

Thank you. Got my act together just about this afternoon, but went for the duvet option for most of the day. Am just knackered this week - dd in bed now though so am going to follow suite as soon as I've eaten.

Thanks again.
