housing benefit expert please!!

My h/b and ctb have been suspended temporarily because xh has started paying £40 pm instead of £25. They want to see my bank statements of when the amount changed. I've just noticed that in the month it changed, the student support office (at uni)awarded me £1,000 to help me pay off my debts. Can H/B take this into account? Life just gets worse and bloody worse.

It wasn't only to help me pay off my debts, btw. Debts were accruing because the local council only allow something like £280 a year travelling expenses to uni, and it was costing me £80 p/w to drive there, so it was also travelling expenses. I feel sick with worry.
