Plans for Mother’s Day?

It’s likely to be just me and ds4 & ds1 1/2 this Sunday.

Avoiding lunch out. Thinking about a day trip to coast if weather agrees. Packed lunch, throwing stones in sea, scooters, ice cream on beach, visit aquarium. Might stop for coffee & half hour of screen time before heading back to give myself a break.

It’s my first year separated. What do other people do / have planned?

We live by the coast so will likely have a nice walk and maybe lunch out. My expectations are low as last year I was a complete mess - my first year as a line parent on Mother's Day. The harsh reality is they don't get it, maybe one day when they are older they will appreciate the fact I've done it all alone and I'll get breakfast in bed. No drama, just be kind to yourself, have a soak in the bath and remember how frigging amazing you are.

Sounds lovely OP. I have now met a new lovely man, I'll be taking my daughter to football in the morning and he'll be taking his mum for lunch (my mum lives 400 miles away so won't see her) but I think we'll be going out in the afternoon/evening for some food which he has arranged.

Before this though I used to take the kids on a nice day out, we've been to the farm, nice walks etc usually involving a coffee and cake pit stop! They normally make a homemade card and my best friend or brother sometimes even ex MiL brought flowers and chocolates from them for me! More than I ever got with ex haha!

Your day sounds ideal and I hope the weather holds out for you! 🌸

Hey OP - mine are a bit older now so I book to go out for dinner so it’s one meal I don’t have to cook and clean up!

When they were the age yours are I used to have similar plans to you - trip to the zoo, day trip to the sea etc.

It can be a bit of an odd day - in one way it doesn’t bother me but in another I do always feel slightly sad on the day when see what all my friends are doing etc.

Anyway what I meant to say is for some people it doesn’t matter at all, but if you do feel a little sad ( not for the presents necessarily but sometimes it would be nice to have someone put you first I think/ or because it’s not the family life you thought you’d have) then that’s OK!
