Child maintenance - complaint

My ex stopped paying child maintenance and when I reported the missed payment I was forced to go from direct pay to collect and pay. Because nothing was being done about my missed payment I contacted my local mp. As a result cms setup a deo. However the amount I will be getting is a lot less than if I was getting my payments through direct pay. I knew 4% would be deducted however it seems like it’s more 10% I will be losing. Online it’s showing the correct calculation already with the 4% deducted. However on the letter I received the amount I should receive for this year (before deductions) is very different from the amount I was given for the annual review last month when I was getting direct payments (around 10% less). I was told by cms they were not able to contact my ex so no changes were reported that could have changed the amount I was meant to get. Arrears are also incorrect. So my question is should I complain directly to cms about the amount I will get and arrears? Or should I contact my mp again?

Contact cm and ask them to explain.

Both. Check their complaints policy ? (If they have one).

Same happened to me OP I’m still waiting for an investigation some months later.

CMS are as bad as the CSA and should be under scrutiny.

In my case it was because they enforced the basic payment but not the arrears

@Theunamedcat ‘my’ arrears are lost in the ether too…
