Merry Xmas all.
seeking advice as im not sure if im overreacting here.
single Parent of ds7 here. Ds’s father has 3 other children from previous marriage - 2 of whom are adults and one boy aged 15, this child leaves with him permanently after his mother left the country (long story which I have never got to the bottom of…)
ds stays with dad currently 1 day/night per week during termtime but has 50% of a school Hols - didn’t agree to this bit was awarded by court. There are welfare issues imo with ds being under care of dad, ss previously involved
some of these issues involve the 15 year old being ‘mean’ to ds and being violent with him. Dad always denies.
recently ds told md that he showers alone at his dads house and that the 15 year comes into ‘watch’ him in the bathroom, then goes, but deliberately switches off the light so he is in the dark and his dad is left to switch it on.
am I right to be concerned about this?

Didn't want to read and run.

The light off thing is just mean . It's bullying .

Watching in the shower I'm not sure it could be intimidating, it could be worse. Either way it's not good.

Does your son want to go?

Does he enjoy being there?

Could your ex supervise better so your son isn't in that situation? Or discipline dss?

HopeIsOnFire2024 · 25/12/2023 23:14

Unfortunately ex is a complete narcissist and denies everything I say, claims that I’m making it up. The ex dss bullied ds all the time but it’s just laughed off by the ex. Ex refuses to communicate with me at all - we are in court proceedings as he wants more time with ds. I will however messaged him via a co parenting app.
ds doesn’t like staying at his dads
ive tried reporting all the incidents to SS but they are not interested. I don’t know what to do. Perhaps I could tell our Gp?

I’d contact the school nurse and give them this info.
Does your DS want to go to his dad’s?

HopeIsOnFire2024 · 26/12/2023 08:37

There is no school nurse unfortunately and school are keen not to be involved (private school).
ds wants to see his dad but dislikes staying over for long periods of time partly due to dss behaviour.
it is Court ordered contact.
