CM payments after 18

I was just wondering what generally happens once your child turns 18. Do most CM paying parents suddenly stop at 18, pay til the end of the school year or end of summer holiday? Is there any rule/advice about this?

Technically ends when child benefit stops so in England for example if a child does a third year in college at 19 they'd still qualify for child benefit so maintenance would be payable.
I think child benefit stops August 31st after a child turns 18 so it's not as cut and dry as they're 18 and now it stops... it stops when child benefit does and a lot choose to help out their then adult child directly or they get jobs and pay rent to parent they live with

Thank you for replying. It would be helpful if the payments go to the end of August.
