Son with no father or grandfather

Anyone in this position? My son has no contact with his dad and has no grandfather from either side.

Yes same situation. I get annoyed when people tell me granddad can be a father figure like they don't understand not every kid has that. No uncles either 🤷

Can I ask, how you manage this? People have said male role-models in clubs etc, but it's not exactly the same.

I didn't have a male role model either... dad left when I was a baby and step dad was violent. It is so important for girls and boys to learn from good men.

I have no suggestions, it is a huge problem and I sympathise

Do you have any friends with DHs?

I have a friend who is in your position and whenever her son gets an award or is involved with anything at school, my DH will come too or send a text congratulating him or whatever. I know it's not the same as a dad at all, but he is involved in his life and is a role model for him.
