Dating as a single mum not sure

Hi I’ve been a single mum for 7 years now. My kids dad died and we’ve settled just the 3 of us but now I feel like it would be nice to have someone. However, at the same time I don’t want anything to change or upset the kids. I think they’d be ok if I dated someone but they wouldn’t be ok with everything changing. They’re 8 and 10. I’m kind of thinking about it but also I haven’t minded being single really. Has anyone decided just to stay single or met someone years after becoming a single parent?

I’m a widow with kids now 12 and 14- widowed five years ago. There is absolutely no way I could have a relationship with anyone as it would absolutely break my kids and I just can’t risk them going off track now they are through the other end of their grief. Not saying I wouldn’t have some fun that they need not know about but no, no relationship.

I’ve also been single 7 years, hasn’t been a choice though as with the kids full time and no family help

Look up spilledmilkmamma on Instagram. I think she has links to advice to dating after widowhood. I think there is a podcast she was on talking about her experiences. I think there is a podcast called dating after death you could listen to and I attach link https://datingafterdeathpo.wixsite.com/dating-after-death?fbclid=PAAabEIfGr3s_B3e5Xv86Uk6MBVwWGpUEDnStaZMinqZ9XNQxdd4f6KfGO10w_aem_AeHgpVUnUT_5p8Xk9558RH0naXKoEevEISnegXp4jOZhpGeCvqOPz5HqoNIm2U6tpyg

ultimately I think life is to be lived and if that’s single or dating, just go for it!

@Spename84 what is your support network like? I think life is too short and if you feel ready to date I think you should OP. You can't walk around life being cynical my nana stayed single all her life as she had 2 daughters and she was worried about the risks....

You don't have to bring a man into your home but I don't see why you should be expected to stay single forevermore. Bu the time your kids grow up it will be so hard for you to try start dating.
