I have a 9yo DS with ExH. We split up when he was 1. DS doesn't like his father or enjoy spending time with him, and doesn't see the point of seeing him. ExH has now moved a 2.5 hour drive away from where we live. DS has a hobby on Friday evenings so let ExH know. He said "in that case I won't see him from then (April) until July, and for longer periods less often as it's less important that I see him as he gets older".

I suggested that he books a hotel in/near where DS lives to save ExH driving 10 hours and DS being in the car for 5 hours every time they see each other. (I'm lucky that ExH does the travelling as he moved away). This was a point blank refusal. Now he is saying that Friday - Sunday isn't worth it so longer periods which suggests school holidays.

I start FT work at the end of July (been retraining at uni for 4 years) so have already booked DS into holiday club for 5 weeks as places get very booked up at £50 a day. This is being covered by universal credit. Where do I stand if ExH wants DS for a week or two weeks over the summer of UC have paid for the childcare? Can I ask ExH to give me back that money? He's not a low earner. Very confused what to do. DS is going to hate the idea of any time with his father and would rather be in holiday club!

There is no court order or contact arrangement in place.

Hey
So is your question where do you stand financially if he goes to his father's but you have paid for child care?
I guess if you have already paid you would just put the claim in to UC as per normal? There are times I have paid child care, uc had paid it back to me it the child hasn't gone.
