Child support - abusive ex

My sister's ex was a horrible man and very abusive. They split 4 years ago and have been in and out of the courts since. She doesn't want him to have anything to do with her DD. He has just stopped paying maintenance. I hope this will go against him in court. But I assume he is legally obliged to pay? I work, she doesn't, so now she is constantly asking me for money. But I have my own child and business, so my own money issues. Should he keep paying even with no access? My niece is 6.

Why is she asking you for money? My ex has never paid maintenance but I wouldn’t ask family for money. Why hasn’t she opened a cms claim? It won’t go against him in court as contact and maintenance aren’t linked and they won’t care

Because she has no money at all and he's stopped paying maintenance, so the money she relied on has stopped.

I will ask her about the CMS claim. He is meant to be paying, but suddenly stopped last month.
