Just that and has it increased to take the cost of living into consideration?

£3.50 for 3 children per week.
Ex is self-employed. Need I say more.

C1N1C · 23/12/2022 21:18

Loving these figures above... I don't have kids, I have two cats, and they cost me more than your kids are getting. This is disgusting!

£220 a month, one child. Just done as a bank transfer on payday, agreed between us as a percentage from his old job, don’t know what he earns now but I don’t feel any need to increase maintenance.

This ^

Chuffaluffa · 23/12/2022 21:22

Some of these amounts are disgusting. I get £900 which is the minimum from the calculator, but based on his salary from last year. This year he’s earned more because I supprted him with a career move that was meant to be 6 weeks and lasted five months and his costs have reduced as he worked away, while mine increased. But he doesn’t think that it would be fair to contribute slightly more to compensate.

a lot of men seem to know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.

supersonicginandtonic · 23/12/2022 21:23

£1000 a month for 2 children but this is a private arrangement. Also pays for their school dinners and buses and extra if I need it.
I know I'm very lucky x

Greenalien1 · 23/12/2022 21:23

Big fat 0. I haven't ever chased it either even though it would help. He's always job hopping or unemployed and I would get hardly anything anyway. Plus the stress of having to answer to him which I know I'd have to wouldn't be worth the pittance I'd get each month

You’re not lucky. It’s what you and your children deserve. He obviously earns well and so it’s the right thing to do.

Nat6999 · 23/12/2022 21:30

None, I haven't received a penny since the CSA went over to CMS.

Willowswood · 23/12/2022 21:31

taxpayer1 · 23/12/2022 18:23

The cost of living subject is a pressing issue. I don't have a definite opinion.

Child maintenance is nothing to do with the cost of living.

supersonicginandtonic · 23/12/2022 21:37

@Lenald I mean in the fact he's such a good dad and we still get along very well.

Zero. England needs to fix its child maintenance system!! I live in Los Angeles now and I don't know anybody who's getting zero. They all get something because the non-resident parent gets their wages garnished and/or driver license taken away if they don't pay. And they really do follow up and enforce the rulings.

What if they don't drive? They take ut out wages here in UK

Starseeking · 23/12/2022 21:41

£610 a month calculated by CMS, after he refused to pay the £600 I'd asked for for 2DC.

CMS initially assessed him as having to pay zero as he'd lied and claimed he was self-employed...it was very lucky I had a copy payslip of his to send them from when we'd applied for a mortgage.

Some men are disgusting pieces of scum, trying to get out of paying for their DC. Maintenance should be deducted straight from their wages, so nobody has to chase them up.

MissMaple82 · 23/12/2022 21:41

GoodVibe · 23/12/2022 17:50

Well done 👍🏻 , I didn’t ask him, because of the history, or use CMS. But once they’re involved what I’m asking is why aren’t people being made to pay.

They are, your meant to use CMS!!!!

MissMaple82 · 23/12/2022 21:43

Willowswood · 23/12/2022 21:31

Child maintenance is nothing to do with the cost of living.

It can be taken into consideration though! Not everybody uses CMS.

lenalemonade · 23/12/2022 21:51

GoodVibe · 23/12/2022 17:00

I don’t understand why it isn’t enforced.

I didn’t ask my Ex for maintenance as I didn’t want anything to do with him, he was an abusive twat.

My son went to live with him at 15 and guess what, Ex went straight to CMS, this was after he hadn’t paid me a penny since DS was 10 years old. For five years I’d done bank work and not been able to afford more than a weekend away while I met every cost of what DS did in life.

CMS look at your prior year earnings and calculate a sum due.

In my case it was almost double the £300 I had agreed to pay before their involvement which is ridiculous, a 15 year old does not cost £600 a month. I should know, he’d lived with me all his life.

My Ex is a spiteful bastard.

So why don’t these absent parents pay?

Same thing happened to me ,it's disgraceful

GuinnessLover · 23/12/2022 21:56

£240 a month from his dad who isn't allowed to see him (court ordered) which isn't enough when childcare fees are over £1000 plus clubs, clothes, food etc. Feel awful for those who get nothing at all.

Some don’t work though so that’s why no maintenance is payable

What about rent for the cost of her room, electricity, water, petrol, council tax etc. men can be idiots

Indeed! He was (and is) a bit of an idiot.

louderthan · 23/12/2022 22:16

How do non-resident parents (mostly men) get away with not financially supporting their kids??? That's not meant to be goady, it's a genuine question. I don't have kids myself so have no knowledge.

PolkaDotMankini · 23/12/2022 22:18

£17.96 a month for two DC. I only get that because the CMS finally threatened him with something or other. He owes thousands in unpaid maintenance but I doubt I'll ever see it. Luckily I don't need his miserly contribution, but his latest exW has sole care of their 3yo and she does need it. I think he's an utter scumbag for many reasons, but not paying/paying tuppence for the toddler ranks high on the list.

roarfeckingroarr · 23/12/2022 22:26

£650 for one

Willowswood · 23/12/2022 22:26

@MissMaple82

I'm not talking about CMS. The cost of living has gone up for everyone. How can the non resident parent pay more to take into account the increased cost of living when their own costs have increased aswell?

It just doesn't make sense. Which is why it's not taken into account whatsoever.

If the nrp has had a pay increase and therefore maintenance increases, this is still nothing to do with the rising costs of living.

ohfacksake · 23/12/2022 22:28

I have two children and receive £330 pcm via CMS.

purplepencilcase · 23/12/2022 22:30

Zero.

To be honest, I didn't want it, I got to raise my son. That was a privilege.

DumpedByText · 23/12/2022 22:33

£400 for one child, he also pays for maths tuition and half of dance lessons. The amount was agreed between us as we are on good terms.
