Has any single parent on here applied for an Irish passport?

I'm in the process of applying for an Irish passport for my daughter. As I'm a single parent, I need to get a sole parent affivadit signed (which is fine) but I'm very confused as to what needs to happen with the birth certificate as it says it needs to be notorised as per affidavit but my solicitor has said a birth certificate shouldn't need notorising and if so, he can't do it as a solicitor. Just wondering exactly what the Irish passport office want with the birth certificate. TIA

Hi there I got my dd a passport and the solicitor who signed my form signed the back of the birthcert too and I had no issues fretting the passport
