Advice on child maintenance

I have applied for child maintenance after having my daughter and her dad having no contact cut a story short he has asked for a DNa and we are in the process right now but I feel like maybe he is prolonging things so he doesn't have to pay me yet I'm not 100% sure but I think he is as I have booked my daughters already and he hasn't booked his, does anybody know if they're is such thing as back date or does he just pay from the first week things go ahead, also if I choose to get him to pay through no contact and through cms I know that costs him more but will they deduct it from my Cm too, he has tried to play me as he tried to come back to me just after I applied he got in contact after not being in contact in the whole three months my daughter was born I'm not sure what he we trying to do but I think he was trying to do something.

Cms will be backed dated.

He will be given the opportunity to pay you directly. The first time he doesn't pay. Or doesn't pay enough you ask to go to deduction of earnings. They will charge him a further 20% of the amount he pays and you will be deducted 4% of the amount you receive. Be aware this takes a few months to set up. But again it will be back dated and arrears chased up.

It's a pain in the arse system but you have to work with what we have

@unicornsarereal72 we have been going through the process since June and it's not august so I am guessing this is like the final stages, it's been longer due to the dna so I think it will be a little longer from now would you say?

If he's resistant to paying it could take a year or more. They will attempt recovery but it takes ages

Sadly the cms are rubbish. I don't know about the dna side of things. I know when I set up my claim in the oct he had until dec to make a payment which he didn't. Then went to deduction of earning I finally got a payment in the March. So six months. He then left that job and has hopped jobs or gone self employed. So it has been 5 years of chasing him for not a lot of money. I've learnt to expect nothing as many single parents do.

@unicornsarereal72 I don't think I will have that problem with my ex, he has been horrendous with me because I was pregnant However he is very above bored with anything he knows that he needs to do as he is a police officer so he should pay it, I just feel like he may be prolonging the dna a little but I'm not 100%

That's good once it's all setup it should be plain sailing for you. Fingers crossed.
