applying for a passport

Hi all
I need to apply for a passport for my son. The application asks for the fathers details, which I have. However, he didn't sign the birth certificate so he isn't named on it. Can I still provide his details to the passport office? would it harm the application to provide the details when they will see that he is not listed on the birth certificate?

Don’t add it you don’t have to even if he is on the BC there is no reason to add it if he isn’t tbh. I never included my exes details on he is on the bc and I got both kids passports just fine

I wouldn't add it... they may ask you for proof of your British citizenship, which is usually providing your mum's birth certificate- you can order online if you're not in touch/ need a copy. Better to keep everything legal related to you z
