Inspired by having witnessed a real live Stokke Xplory on the street

Name your top 5 ugliest buggies!

Heehee

  1. Stokke Explory

  2. Anything by Silver Cross circa 1985

  3. Anything by Bebecar circa 1990 (slow to catch up with blue/yellow trend)

  4. Graco everything (but I like their shopping baskets!)

  5. Quinny Freestyle 4/Buzz/Zapp/ Icandy cherry (sorry)

FlllightAttendant · 18/01/2008 06:59

...why is this in lone parents??

FlllightAttendant · 18/01/2008 07:03

..and finally, at risk of writing an entire thread that nobody else will either contribute to or read except Milky here, may I also list my top 5 beautiful ones?

  1. Emmaljunga Edge circa 2002

  2. Gesslein Trend circa 2005 (silver-grey with cream brocade lining)

  3. Mountain Buggy Urban in Black or that Hawaiian print

  4. Maclaren Techno c. 2005

  5. Phil & Teds Explorer c. 2003.

God this is turning into Top Gear!

Off to have breakfast...

Alambil · 18/01/2008 13:57

My utter favourite is a Silver Cross Kensington in navy blue.

2nd fave - SC Balmoral

3rd fave - Bertini Bidwell 4wheel drive (DS had that!)

4th - something like Loola or proper carrycot types

5th - Maclaren range

I hate those weird looking ones;

1 - ANY with a carseat instead of a chair/carrycot (abhor them)

2 - bugaboo style

3 - Quinny zap style (the kid looks so uncomfy a lot of the time)

4 - 3 wheelers

5 - anything beige/cream! (what a silly colour for a buggy! (if you want brand - Mamas n Papas cos they aren't very sturdy are they... seem to break a lot)

Alambil · 18/01/2008 13:59

here is the Bertini - I love it because it lies totally flat and I made it into a proper pram style for DS with his moses basket matress!

I hate it cos it is HUGE though lol

scottishmummy · 20/01/2008 01:18

all equally ugly so listed randomly

1st this leather monstrosity

2nd this logo crazy eye sore

3rdthis white wheeled graphics hallucination 4th this swiveling camode 5ththis leatherette kitsch horror

tulip27 · 20/01/2008 01:22

Definatly the bugaboo, its just so middle class bodenesque!

TabithaTwitchett · 20/01/2008 01:24

I love my Stokke, dd is high up and loves it, it can be used in cafes etc when highchairs are all taken and it looks weird!

scottishmummy · 20/01/2008 01:32

oh i am middle class bodenesque then i have 2 bugaboos

FlllightAttendant · 20/01/2008 07:06

Lewis, I like your Bertini! I used to have the other model which I loved until I overloaded the shopping tray and the axle snapped

Scottishmummy, I take all mine back and opt for your choice please instead - truly, truly horrifying!!!! Especially that Bug and the leather Mac. Actually all of them...

Babystyle, mmmm

I think the Bugaboo is Ok looking (not that white one obv) but the seat is very shallow, and I keep seeing children in them who look sort of 'perched' - nowhere to curl up or stash toys on the seat. Headroom limited as well.

isaidno · 20/01/2008 07:17

scottishmummy - you are well informed!
Can't believe that number 4!

scottishmummy · 20/01/2008 10:54

a howler isnt it

onebatmother · 20/01/2008 11:14

FA so true about limited headroom in buggaboo

i have this but not in artificial limb pink

in bright green. Loads of room.

ugly/gorgeous? cant' quite decide..

onebatmother · 20/01/2008 11:17

Oh my god Scottishmummy!!!
Is that a man or a woman with the white freakoid buggaboo?
This is very wrong, in every respect.

NatalieJane · 20/01/2008 11:46

Scottish, I actually quite like that orbit thing, looks very practical, am I weird?

scottishmummy · 20/01/2008 12:01

3andnomore · 20/01/2008 12:53

or aren't they

possibly aren't

another yukki one

yukkilicious

how about this one

must have, surely

can't live without

or how about this one

FlllightAttendant · 20/01/2008 15:02

NJ I quite liked it too...obviously with the seat on, though!

NatalieJane · 20/01/2008 15:10

LOL yes, when I clicked the link and just the frame came up, had images of poor kid sat on the circle thing

I even went as far as to see how much it was - $800+ for just the basic set, am thinking that equals about £450-£500???? Not bad really....

Sorry Scottish, but just as I wouldn't go and buy a buggy because a schleb had it, I wouldn't not buy it either! I am secretly (or not ) very impressed with it

onebatmother · 20/01/2008 17:29

the kid on the circle seat buggy would have excellent gross motor/balance skills though, wouldn't he?

scottishmummy · 20/01/2008 18:41
