How do you juggle childcare?

I'm training to be a midwife, DS is 3.5 and starts school next September.

Right now I live near family who help with childcare but I am desperate to move away once qualified.

Shifts are often 7am-7pm.

Single parents who work, how do you manage it? I don't want to be tied down here forever but at the same time I'm not sure how it'd work.

I used to work 8-8, it was tricky. I could get child care till 6pm then my only option was family.
I think unless you get a child minder who comes to your house so is also able to put your child to bed, it will be hard to get around. Of course the other option is to also find another working mum who works opposite shifts that also needs child care. There for you can look after each others children.
