What happens if he ignores letters re CM

I'm about to make a long overdue claim for child maintenance. My ex will almost definitely just ignore all letters. What will happen then do they track him down or put him down as unreachable?

Depends is he on PAYE if so they will arrange a deduction of earnings from his employer

If he is an arse he could go self employed. Move house. Change jobs and they will spend years trying to catch up with him.

They just took it directly off my ex when he ignored letters as he refused to speak to them, he was on benefits though so was only £7 per week taken directly

He is employed and he is an arse luckily he's a lazy arse and don't think he could be bothered to move or go self employed. He's not paying anywhere near enough and want to claim but scared he'll ignore everything and I'll end up with nothing. Thank you both for your advice it's reassuring x

Make sure to put in his employers name and address, and if you can a contact person in HR if need be.

They should be able to trace his details at HMRC if you can give them his NI number, failing that, his DOB, full name and address should do it.

My EXDP recently tried to dodge CMS by claiming he is self-employed...so I gave them his payslip from our mortgage application for the place he's worked at as a PAYE employee for the last 10 years. He now has to pay £610 per month for 2 DC, compared to the £300 he pretended was adequate for them both.

Good luck!

My ex though always unemployed. I applied to what was csa. He ignored them. Answered the phone once by mistake said it was inconvient so they sent demands for payment..

Recent issue with cms.. He needed to pay into a different account as post office account was no longer accepting payments from 3rd parties. He ignored them for months phonecalls and letters.. once he missed a payment they sent a letter saying payment would go through them unless he paid into my new bank account within 2 weeks... He suddenly found time to change it🙄
