Blame

I keep seeing a lot that children blame their mothers for their father not being around, is this something that happens? Why would a child blame their mum if it was their father that chose not to be involved? Particularly those of you that have older children and father not involved do they blame you for it?

Presumably the child has no one else to blame and it's difficult to be angry at someone who isn't there.

The alternative is the child absorbs that blame themselves and is far rather my dc blame me for it then themselves.

I'd far rather.... autocorrect strikes again

My dad was never around growing up but I never blamed myself or my mum for that matter, so just wondered how common it is in reality

Children see adult relationships as black and white so they break down because one person has don't something bad.

It's easier for the child to think that they don't see their father because of mum rather than dad doesn't them because they cba. By not being around, it's easy to imagine them as some sort of Disney hero who is perfect.

Due to circumstances out of my control, my kids know why my marriage ended. Even though it's their dad's fault, dc2 was angry with me for a good 6 months after he left. She stopped being angry when she worked out that everything was out of my control too.

Oh it’s been years it’s not a recent thing he hasn’t seen them properly in 5 years!
