CMS and reducing payments

My ex has applied to reduce payments after his payments increased following a new job. The reduction is £60 per month and the only info I have about the grounds for this is additional costs he has reported in caring for his child. What could this be for? I can only think it might be petrol to drive to school although my son has been in the school for nearly 3 years. His Dad pays for swimming and I pay for drama so I I don't think it could be extra-curricular costs. How do I challenge this? The £60 is a huge deal at the moment, particularly given my gas and electric bill has gone up by £140 a month. Can cost of living increases be taken into account by CMS? Thanks

So he’s applied? But has he been successful yet? Cms will want detail as to why he is claiming this

SiempreDot · 09/04/2022 11:38

He's applied and been successful but the letter sent to me doesn't explain the grounds

Has he fathered another child?

In that case he has shown sufficient efficient and unlikely you’ll be successful. Certainly not on ground if increased living costs I’m sorry - it’s frustrating

Evidence

He's not fathered another child. He has moved house further away from sons school but surely that is something he should factor into consideration when deciding where to live and is nothing to do with me. I despair at the CMS

My ex moved away he gets a variation for milage. Google variations for child maintenance

AHungryCaterpillar · 10/04/2022 19:15

Can’t you ask them why? I made another thread the yesterday because I don’t get any maintenance at all. Cms don’t care 🤷‍♀️

AHungryCaterpillar · 10/04/2022 19:16

Ask cms why not him

OhamIreally · 22/04/2022 07:47

It will be a variation for travel to contact as pp have said.

I really fought it when my ex did this - said DD was being punished twice over - once by him moving away and twice by having his financial support withdrawn as a consequence.

It's pathetic that this is allowed. I think the whole CMS and family court system is a shimmering temple to the patriarchy personally.
